Pilgrims from all around visit Sabarimala during the Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season every year. Millions of people head to the sacred shrine annually. Ahead of the peak season in 2024, the Kerala government made a crucial announcement for visitors planning to visit here without registering online. According to the latest updates, pilgrims can do darshan at Sabarimala conveniently despite not completing the online registration process.
Pilgrims Without Online Registration Are Allowed At Sabarimala For Darshan
The Pinarayi Vijayan government clarified that all pilgrims visiting Sabarimala will get an opportunity for devotional darshan experiences. On Tuesday, the government stated the news regarding Lord Ayyappa temple. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan shared official information in the Legislative Assembly. He said that it would be ensured that pilgrims can visit Sabarimala for smooth darshan even without online registration.
Ahead of the significant season, an official decision was made stating online registration was a necessity for everyone for darshan. Following the announcement, many organisations protested against the government’s decision. Now, the government has stopped the mandated prior online registration process.
Recently, a meeting was conducted focusing on implementing crucial steps for a smooth and hassle-free Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season. According to a report by The New Indian Express, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan chaired the meeting. Travancore Devaswom, Devaswom Minister, Police, and District Administration attended the meeting too.
More About The Pilgrimage
The Kerala government is taking different necessary steps. The primary aim is to prioritise offering enhanced experiences to every pilgrim visiting Sabarimala in this peak season. Efforts are taken to assist individuals who do not know about the online registration process or visit the holy site without online booking.
Digital documentation of information about the pilgrims via virtual queue registration will play a crucial role in focusing on safety. In times of unfortunate incidents, such as someone going missing or facing accidents, these details will help in identifying people. The virtual queue system implemented in Sabarimala is inspired by Tirupati’s system. Sabarimala launched the online registration process back in 2011.
