On February 9, the Indian Army launched the 51-day Pir Panjal Winter Festival in Jammu and Kashmir. The festival will conclude in March and feature a range of sports and cultural activities, such as cricket and volleyball tournaments and singing and dancing contests. The Indian Army kicked off the Pir Panjal Winter Festival in the Poonch region on Sunday. According to CNBC TV18, this festival shows the Army’s “commitment to youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and social reformation” and its commitment to fighting drug abuse. The festival will culminate on March 31.

The Pir Panjal Winter Festival focuses on the overall development of the youth from the remote communities of this area in Jammu and Kashmir. Reportedly, the Indian Army hopes to foster the spirit of sportsmanship, work toward cultural revival, and comprehensive development of the young generation here.

They believe that this festival is a catalyst for change, encouraging young people to avoid the dangers of substance abuse and “redirect their energy into positive and life-affirming activities.”

Festival To Feature Variety Of Sports And Cultural Events

Pir Panjal Winter Festival will feature a range of sports activities like an under-25 men’s cricket tournament, volleyball tournaments for men under-25 and women under-21, and an open kho-kho competition for girls. There will also be many cultural events like Gujari and Pahari folk dance performances, a dance and music talent hunt, solo and group singing competitions, science and art exhibitions, painting, and essay writing competitions. As per reports, live musical performances by renowned artists will also be held on the final day.
