Experience The Marine Life Of Andaman At Fisheries Museum, Port Blair

Located near the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex in Port Blair, the Fisheries Museum is home to over 350 finely preserved marine specimens. From delicate corals, shells and small reef fishes to life‑size displays of sharks, sawfish and even the skeletal remains of a sperm whale, you can find them all here.

This marine museum offers an immersive journey into the underwater world of the Indo-Pacific Ocean and Bay of Bengal and brings the region’s rich marine biodiversity to life. Visitors can know all about marine ecosystems, the importance of conservation, and the role of fisheries in the Andaman’s economy.

As you walk around the Fisheries Museum in Port Blair, you will find large displays explaining fishing techniques, tools, and traditional practices of the locals on the island. You can also catch exotic reef fishes like butterflyfish, parrotfish, lionfish, and clownfish. And even larger species, including sharks, tuna, sawfish, and marlin at this museum.

All in all, it is perfect for families, students and anyone eager to discover the marine beauty of Andaman’s fisheries heritage.
