Singapore is a multicultural destination and is home to people from varied backgrounds and countries. And this is evident from the fact that you see different types of people working together every day in harmony. With skyscrapers lining the city and a variety of things for every traveller to explore, Singapore is a great place for travellers. And this is also the reason why I went to this beautiful destination with my husband for a much-needed getaway. And here I am now listing why you need to travel to this beautiful destination for a blissful five-day vacation as well!
Tickets, Visas & Other Documents
Before travelling to the country, you need to get your documents in order. For this purpose, you must have your bookings in place. This includes the aeroplane tickets for both arrival and departure and of course, your hotel bookings as well. Once these are done, you should be able to present a clear financial background, a photo (as per the visa guidelines), passports, and then apply for the same online.
As you might have gathered, Singapore allows e-visas for Indias, so the entire procedure is online. However, you do need to fill out the SG Arrival form and take out a printout of the same. As it is, this arrival card grants you entry into the country.
Now, coming to the days for travel, here’s how you can space out your exploration if you’re visiting for five days.
Day 1
The first day you arrive, you might want to talk to your hotel to make a request for early check-in. The reason for this is the fact that it allows check-in at 2 PM. After you have rested for some time, you can venture out and explore the Merlion Park. This is an iconic site that you have to explore; after all, taking images in front of this site is a must. After this, you can explore Haji Street. At night, you can make bookings to check out Marquee, which is an iconic club that’s the perfect place for a party.
Day 2
Wake up early, and after you have had your breakfast, make sure to drop by Mount Faber. At the top of the mountain is a cable car station. This cable car takes you straight to Sentosa Island. This station is at the top of a cliff, and right next to it is the Sky Luge. This carting experience takes you down to the cliff in a fun-filled way to Siloso Beach. From there, you take the cable car up for the second round.
And once you’re done exploring, you must check out Madame Tussauds and the sea aquarium. However, the highlight of the evening on this day has to be the show, Wings of Time. This incredible show begins at exactly 7:40 pm, and it’s truly an experience of a lifetime, something you will take back with you, long after your vacay is over! After the show, take the bus back to your hotel and step out to explore Lau Pa Sat, a street just for hawkers!

Day 3
For the next day, you must visit Sentosa Island once again. After all, a trip to Singapore is rather incomplete without a visit to Universal Studios Singapore. This massive arena is brimming with people and has several iconic sections. From The Mummy and Jurassic Park to the newly opened Minion Land and Shrek’s Castle, the place brings your fave movies alive.
Exploring all of these places and eating delicious food takes an entire day, and hence it’s advisable to devote the day just for this attraction. However, you must download the Universal Studios Singapore App, as it has a map, shows waiting time at rides and attractions, meet and greet schedules, and even helps you find the diner of your choice.
Day 4
After exploring the best of Sentosa Island, take the time to visit the Museum of Ice Cream. It’s a place that you won’t forget, and then you must go to the top of the Marina Bya Sands. The view from the top is phenomenal and nothing like you’d have ever seen, but it’s the restaurants here that stole my heart. Lavos, an Italian eatery, is perfect for those of you who wish to dine with a panoramic view of Singapore, but make sure to book in advance to avoid any last-minute hassles.
Once you’re done exploring Marina Bay Sands, take the pedestrian bridge to Gardens By The Bay. From Flower Dome to Cloud Forest, the lush beauty of flora from around the world is truly awe-inspiring. And it will certainly compel you to take tonnes of pictures! After you have seen the free Super Grove evening light and music show. Once you walk back from the same bridge to Marina Bay, indulge in some shopping at the Marina Bay Shoppes and end your day with a comforting meal at Din Tai Fung.
Day 5
This would ideally be the day you depart, and the best flight would be one which flies out at night. This will leave you with the entire day to yourself. Make sure to shop some more at Orchard Road and pack your things. But you will want to arrive 5-6 hours before your flight. After all, Changi Airport is a tourist attraction in itself. While the departure would happen from any one of the terminals, you can board the free sky trains to travel between all the terminals. Explore the Jewel Vortex, Butterfly Garden and Sunflower Garden for a fantastic experience. While you’re at it, do grab a free drink made by a robot at Lotte Duty Free on Terminal 1.
So, there are many more things to see in Singapore, but you might want to save them for the next time. After all, there’s only so much you can cover in five days. Not to mention, we’re sure you will want to visit this place once again!
