This event marks a significant step in boosting rail connectivity across Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The new trains are expected to revolutionise travel in these regions, offering faster, more comfortable journeys while supporting local economies.

The Ministry of Railways emphasises that these trains align with India’s ‘Make in India’ and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The Vande Bharat Express has been a symbol of luxury and speed in rail travel since its introduction on February 15, 2019. With over 100 Vande Bharat services already operational, these trains connect more than 280 districts across the country. They have transformed the travel experience for millions of passengers.

The Vande Bharat trains are equipped with state-of-the-art features, ensuring a modern and inclusive travel experience. They include advanced safety features such as Kavach technology, which prevents train collisions. The trains also feature rotating chairs, Divyangjan-friendly toilets, and integrated Braille signages. These amenities ensure that passengers of all abilities can travel in comfort and safety.

  1. Meerut City-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express: Connecting Meerut to Lucknow, this train starts from Lucknow at 2:45 PM on Sundays and from Meerut at 6:35 AM on Mondays. Operating six days a week, with Tuesday as a rest day, it boosts religious tourism and local industries by providing faster access to key pilgrimage sites and the state capital.
  2. Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express: This train connects Madurai and Bengaluru, departing Madurai at 5:15 AM and reaching Bengaluru Cantonment at 1:00 PM. The return journey leaves Bengaluru at 1:30 PM, arriving in Madurai at 9:45 PM. Operating six days a week with a rest day on Tuesday, it improves business and educational commutes across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
  3. Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express: Covering 726 km, this train connects Chennai to Nagercoil. Train No. 20627 departs Chennai Egmore at 5:00 AM, reaching Nagercoil at 1:50 PM. The return journey, Train No. 20628, leaves Nagercoil at 2:20 PM, arriving in Chennai at 11:00 PM. Serving 12 districts, it enhances travel for pilgrims and local residents.
