Railway stations in different parts of India recently got a new addition to their services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras at railway stations nationwide. From Gujarat to Bihar and from Tamil Nadu to Tripura, stations in several Indian states witnessed the virtual inauguration of these new kendras. What is the purpose of these new beginnings? PM Modi Dedicated 18 Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra At Different Stations On Wednesday

Taking to the X platform, Ministry of Railways (@RailMinIndia) shared glimpses of the inauguration events.

On November 13, 2024, PM Modi dedicated a total of 18 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras. All these establishments have been set up at railway stations in 11 Indian states. Prime Minister unveiled these through video conferencing. He attended the virtual call from Darbhanga, Bihar. One of the biggest advantages of these new kendras is how easily passengers can purchase medicines at pocket-friendly prices from railway stations.

According to a report by The Economic Times, this wonderful initiative is a part of the vision to develop a “Swastha Bharat, Vikshit Bharat” translating to Healthy India, Developed India. 18 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been inaugurated in:

  • Samastipur, Bihar
  • Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh
  • Chandlodiya, Gujarat
  • Rajkot, Gujarat
  • Vapi, Gujarat
  • Katni, Madhya Pradesh
  • Durgapura, Rajasthan
  • Barmer, Rajasthan
  • Falna, Rajasthan
  • Davangere, Karnataka
  • Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu
  • Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu
  • Kacheguda, Telangana
  • Agartala, Tripura
  • Badshahnagar, Uttar Pradesh
  • Bareilly City, Uttar Pradesh
  • Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh
  • Netaji Metro Station, West Bengal

Currently, West Bengal has two Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Before Kolkata’s Netaji Metro Station, Malda got one such medicine establishment a few days back.

More About These Medicine Centres

While addressing the event in different Indian states, PM Modi highlighted the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra. As stated by him, these centres will offer medicines at affordable prices. At these shops, customers can get medicines for 50 to 90 per cent cheaper than market prices. It is a significant step to prioritise improved health services in different parts of the country.
