Our esteemed Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple on Wednesday in Kharghar, Mumbai. ISKCON built it under the Glory of Maharashtra initiative. Other notable key MPs and political leaders, such as Governor C P Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and MP Hema Malini, attended the event.

After performing puja at the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji temple, he addressed a crowd of over 500 devotees who were present there. Authorities observed tight security measures, including road closures near the temple complex, along with 5,000 police personnel for public safety.

Speaking at the inauguration, Modi said that he considered himself fortunate to have been allowed to play his part in such a divine ritual, which had been made possible by the efforts of ISKCON in this land of wisdom and devotion. Modi also highlighted Srila Prabhupada Swami’s dedication. At the age of 70, when many people feel their duties are fulfilled, Prabhupada continued his mission with ISKCON. He travelled the world to spread Lord Krishna’s message to every corner.

Remembering Srila Prabhupada Swami’s active efforts today, the Prime Minister emphasized how millions of people globally have been inspired and benefited from it. 

The Prime Minister also stated that Srila Prabhupada Swami fostered the importance and depth of the Vedas, Vedanta and the Gita during India’s struggle against colonial rule. He linked Bhakti Vedanta to the consciousness of the general public.

ISKCON Temple In Mumbai Is A Multifaceted Cultural and Spiritual Hub

Constructed over 12 years with a total cost of ₹170 crore, the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple is now Asia’s second-largest ISKCON temple. Built across expansive 9 acres the temple complex houses a college for Vedic studies, a library, and an Ayurvedic healing centre. There’s also a cow shed, a senior citizens’ ashram, a Vedic museum, an organic farm, and a cultural hub.
