PM Modi Inaugurates Hisar Airport In Haryana
On Ambedkar Jayanti, PM Narendra Modi was in Haryana and launched several development initiatives worth ₹10,000 crore in the state. One of the most-awaited of these development projects included the Hisar Airport, also known as Maharaja Agrasen Airport. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and several other state ministers were also present at the event.
The PM flagged off the inaugural commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya and then laid the foundation for a new ₹410 crore terminal building. While addressing the crowd after the inauguration, the PM also highlighted the rise in the number of airports in India from 74 to over 150 since 2014.
According to the Economic Times, this new building will feature a state-of-the-art passenger terminal, a cargo terminal, and an advanced Air Traffic Control (ATC) building. The development is part of the UDAN initiative that aims to make air travel more affordable and accessible, especially for smaller towns and cities.
Improving Haryana’s Aviation Connectivity
The newly inaugurated Hisar Airport in Haryana marks a significant leap in the state’s aviation connectivity. The Maharaja Agrasen Airport will have scheduled flights from Hisar to Ayodhya twice a week. Furthermore, the airport is expected to have three flights a week to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh as well. More details about the airport’s scheduled flights are awaited.
