Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Kerala. His 2-day itinerary on January 2 and 3 includes attending some events, inaugurating significant developments, and laying the foundation stones for new projects. PM Modi has arrived in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli and Chief Minister MK Stalin welcomed him. He started his day by attending the 38th Convocation Ceremony of Bharathidasan University. PM Modi Started His 2-Day Visit From Tiruchirappalli In Tamil Nadu
Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Modi Ji announced his visit to Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Kerala on January 2 and 3.

After addressing the Convocation ceremony, he headed to the Trichy Airport to inaugurate the new airport terminal building. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scinda was also present along with Narendra Modi during the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday.

Taking to social media, the Prime Minister shared how the launch of Tiruchirappalli’s new airport terminal building and several connectivity projects will have a positive boost to this region’s economic landscape.
Along with these projects, his itinerary in Tamil Nadu also includes laying the foundation stone of several development projects. These upcoming projects are based on different sectors varying from aviation to road to higher education, railway, gas, and oil, according to a report by News 18. All these projects have an overall budget exceeding ₹19,850 crore.
He will dedicate a doubling of the 160 km section of the Madurai-Tuticorin and more railway projects to the nation during his visit. Some of these projects are
- Doubling of 41.4 Km section of the Salem–Magnesite Junction–Omalur–Mettur Dam
- Rail line electrification such as Tiruchchirappalli- Manamadurai- Virudhunagar, Virudhunagar – Tenkasi Junction, and Sengottai – Tenkasi Junction – Tirunelveli- Tiruchendur.
He Will Visit Lakshadweep On January 3
Narendra Modi’s 2-day work visit also includes flying to Lakshadweep’s Kavaratti. The plans for Wednesday are:
- PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of many projects tomorrow. In Lakshadweep, these new projects will be focused on edible water, health, solar power, and telecommunications.
- He will inaugurate the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection project, the official release stated.
- Modi Ji will lay the foundation stone for the renovation of the Primary Health Care facility in Kalpeni.
- He will also lay the foundation stone for constructing the five model Anganwadi Centres in Androth, Chetlat, Kadmat, Agatti, and Minicoy
- The plan is to inaugurate Kadmat’s Low-Temperature Thermal Desalination.
- He will dedicate Kavaratti’s solar power plant to the nation.
- Modi ji will lay the foundation stone of projects worth more than ₹1,150 crore in Lakshadweep on January 3.
