PM Narendra Modi Approves Major Metro Projects For Thane, Bengaluru & Pune; Details Inside

India is currently a hotbed of development. With there being so many new projects coming up in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced several amazing projects for the enhancement of metro rail projects in the cities of Bengaluru, Thane, and Pune. In case you’re wondering about them, we are here to give you all about the cabinet-approved project.

Pune Metro Expansion Plan

Bringing seamless connectivity to Pune, the Union Cabinet approved the Swargate to Katraj Underground line extension. This is for the existing PCMC-Swargate Metro line of the Pune Metro Phase 1 project. The extension which is also known as Line-1 B will be across 5.46 km and include three underground stations. These would be in areas like Market Yard, Bibwewadi, Balaji Nagar and the Katraj Suburbs. The project is estimated to cost about ₹2954.53 crores and is expected to be completed by February 29. It’s worth mentioning that this new corridor will link several buses, recreational centres like Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, railway stations, and many residential and institutional areas, to name some.

Union Cabinet Approves Metro Plans For Thane

The cabinet also approved the Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project in Maharashtra. This will be a 29 km corridor that will be running along the periphery of the West Side of the city. Including 22 stations, the network will include Ulhas River and the Sanjay Gandhi National Park on either sides. Offering senior connectivity and an efficient mode of transport, it’s bound to ease the economic potential and ease traffic congestion in the city. It’s estimated that the project is going to cost ₹12,200.10 crores and the project is expected to be completed by 2029. Benefiting thousands of daily commuters, Maha Metro will be executing the project.

2 Corridors For Bengaluru Metro Rail Project Approved

Union Cabinet also approved two corridors for Bangalore Metro Rail Project Phase 3. With a completion cost of ₹15,611 crores, the project will be operational by 2029. Corridor 1 will be from JP Nagar’s fourth phase to Kempapura along the Outer Ring Road West. The length will be 32.15 km and it will comprise 21 stations! This corridor will be from Hosahalli and extend to Kadabagere along the Magadi Road with a length of 12.50 km and comprise nine stations. As a result, Bengaluru city will have a metro rail network of 220.20 km. With the expansion of the metro rail network in the city, there’s going to be a significant advancement in its infrastructure development as well.
