Some of us are to the thought that luxury provides the best of comfort and above hence landing up paying a little extra for it. Hence 5-star properties are in business. But this hotel in Abu Dhabi wants to take it up a notch. Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental is in the market announcing a new title’ 5-Star Plus Hotels’ and also laid the requirements to attain the ranking.

What Are The Requirements 5-Star Plus Hotels?

The Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi is so opulent that it goes beyond what is often considered a five-star hotel.

For the palace and other lodgings that are thought to be more opulent than standard five-star establishments, the capital of the United Arab Emirates made the decision to establish its own hospitality category, known as 5-star plus hotels. And that new designation is not given lightly: local hotels must possess certain features in order to be classified.

Here’s the list of requirements to attend the 5-Star Plus Ranking

  1. Two Presidential Suites
  2. A Helipad
  3. A Limousine Service
  4. No Property within at least a 5 km radius.
  5. High Staff-Guest ratio

If a hotel ticks all these requirements then the property become eligible for the new highest ranking available in the hospitality industry.

The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi describes the establishment as a 5-star hotel that offers an experience that unquestionably surpasses five-star requirements via uber-luxurious facilities flawless expectations and a service delivery that caters to guest needs in a personalised, proactive, and friendly manner. The city’s most sumptuous lodgings also include numerous more luxury properties from brands like Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, Rosewood, and Shangri-La, but none has attained the 5-star plus designation as of yet. This is what a 5-Star Plus Property should look like.

After being purchased by the hotel chain from Kempinski in 2020, Emirates Palace (seen above) officially joined the Mandarin Oriental portfolio in February 2023. Now named Emirates Royal Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi, it has 114 of the most intricate gold domes in the entire world, and 394 rooms, including three royal suites. The famous hotel also includes a public beach that is 1.3 kilometres long and opened in 2005.
