Amrut Expedition: India’s Oldest & Most Expensive Single Malt Whisky
Amrut Distilleries has just launched a game-changer in the world of whisky: India’s Oldest and Most Expensive Single Malt, the Amrut Expedition. The Amrut Expedition is India’s first-ever 15-year-old single malt, a remarkable feat never achieved in Indian whisky-making before. It began its journey in an exclusive European Sherry cask for eight years and then it matured further in an American ex-Bourbon cask for another seven years.
The final spirit is a whisky that boasts unparalleled complexity and depth. This rare gem is limited to just 75 bottles worldwide. That’s it. Every bottle is a collector’s dream, and it carries a hefty price tag of over USD 10,000 (₹8,71,172 approx.).
The packaging is as exceptional as the whisky itself. The Expedition box is a masterful blend of metal and wood, crafted over six months and five prototypes. Each box is individually handcrafted, with engraved and numbered bottles. The bottle itself features a diamond-cut design, adorned with gold engravings. The package also includes a regal silver peg measure crafted by a Bangalore silversmith. Additionally, an NFC tag and bespoke authentication card ensure that every bottle is the real deal.

A Collector’s Dream
Amrut Expedition delivers a spectacular tasting experience. It opens with sherried truffle, sweet cane molasses, and hints of sandalwood and oak. At 62.8% ABV, it’s bold yet velvety. The first sip brings chocolate-coated sherry, followed by a silky smoothness and a burst of cracked black pepper. As it settles, dried fruits, vanilla, and bitter cocoa emerge, leading to a long, refreshing finish with lingering cocoa notes.
The launch of this exemplary spirit celebrates 75 glorious years of Amrut Distilleries. This journey was driven by the vision of Mr. Neelkanth Rao Jagdale, who put India on the global whisky map. Amrut Expedition represents this vision as well as the craftsmanship the distilleries are known for.
For whisky lovers and collectors alike, Amrut Expedition history in a bottle.
