Priya Mani Was Eager To Taste The Difference Between South Indian Food In Mumbai And Back Home

Priya Mani

For one of our Tere Gully Mein episodes, we took actor Priya Mani, a true South Indian hailing from Bengaluru, to explore Matunga. Matunga in Mumbai is a well-liked locality that offers the best South Indian cuisine in the city. The ‘Jawan’ actor was excited about this amazing food trail and put a lot of faith in Curly Tales. Check out what was in store for our guest and the eateries we covered.

Priya Mani’s Ate South Indian Food In Mumbai

Priya Mani, a Bangalorean who now resides in Mumbai, terribly misses her hometown and its flavoursome food. We took it upon ourselves to get rid of her homesickness and headed over to Matunga. It is the hub of delicious and authentic South Indian food; every nook and cranny of this area is bustling with promising eateries.

As a true South Indian, the actor was excited to see what Mumbai had to offer to her hard-to-impress tastebuds. She shared, “I am eager to see the difference between South Indian food here (Mumbai) and what we get back home (Bengaluru).” On hearing this, Kamiya replied, “We are going to convince you that Mumbai also serves really good South Indian food!”

Kamiya had faith in herself and Mumbai’s popular eateries. However, Priya told us that even though she is keen to explore food scenes, she is a “tough nut to crack!” And we accepted the challenge.

Where Did We Take Her?

The first stop on this food trail was at Ram Ashraya. We ordered neer dosa, Manglorean puri and filter coffee. Priya was craving a good cup of filter coffee, as it had been over a month since she had it last. The beverage and the puris hit the spot for her.

Next up, we headed over to Udipi Shri Krishna Boarding to relish a traditional South Indian thali on a banana leaf. The experience was quite similar to her Bengaluru restaurants and she was left speechless with the lip-smacking food and its authenticity!

At the end of the meal, she licked her fingers clean. It was truly finger-licking good and our job was done here! We hope she found a piece of her home in Matunga and won’t feel homesick so often!
