According to a memo which was recently shared by Delta Airlines, there are a number of guidelines that a prospective flight attendant interviewing for the job must comply with. The memo is two pages long and talks about almost every aspect of a person’s appearance, from nails to shoes.

As per the memo, this is being monitored since flight attendants are, most of the time, the face of the airline. As such, to “enhance each customer’s experience”, these guidelines were put in place. In addition to talking about highlighting the acceptable appearance, the memo also mentions conduct.

It says that on the day of the interview, the use of phones or earbuds is not allowed. It specifies that if the flight attendants are wearing dresses or skirts, the length of these apparel should reach below the knee.

If the prospective flight attendant has visible tattoos, they should be covered with waterproof make-up. The memo goes on to specify that bandages are not an acceptable solution. It also disallows prospective employees from wearing athletic-type shoes.

If the prospective flight attendants are weaning nail paints, they must all be the same colours and should have any kind of nail art. The colours cannot be neon and the nail paint should not be chipped.

Toward the end, it mentions that Delta Airlines may work to accommodate the prospective flight attendants’ appearance or attire for specific religious beliefs. However, they should not cause a safety hazard.
