Since Wednesday night, Pune has witnessed one of its heaviest rainfalls in July. The torrential rains have led to flooding and waterlogging across the city and have paralysed normal life. The overflowing rivers have raised concerns for people living in low-lying areas like Pimpri-Chinchwad. For their safety, Pune’s civic body has moved citizens living in low-lying areas along the banks of Pavana and Mula Rivers to temporary shelters.

As per The Indian Express report, about 3,000 people have been shifted from low-lying areas in Pimpri-Chinchwad after authorities issued an alert. This comes after five deaths were reported in rain-related incidents on Thursday in the city.

With a few exceptions, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has decided to reschedule papers in an ongoing repeaters examination for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), The Indian Express reported.

Many Pune citizens took to X (formerly Twitter) to share how the city looked amid the heavy rainfall. People posted pictures and videos of overflowing rivers and dams, waterlogged and flooded streets, and citizens using boats to manoeuvre around the city due to the heavy downpours.
