It’s a fact that good food can cure a bad mood. Whether it’s a particular region or a particular dish, people have their favorites. Taste Atlas is out with their ‘100 Best Food Regions in The World’ 2024-25 list. Taste Atlas identified and analysed 477,287 valid ratings for around 15,478 dishes in their database and brought out the list of the regions with the highest average scores. India has made it to this list on quite a few spots, with the first one being at number 7, which is given to our beloved Punjab. Read on to know which dishes from Punjab are ranked the best.
Punjab Is The 7th Best Food Region In The World
From the Golden Temple to Jallianwala Bagh, Punjab’s history in India is definitely unmatched. One thing that Punjab is known for other than its history is its delicious, traditional, and authentic food. Taste Atlas gave ratings to the best dishes in Punjab. With a rating of 4.7, Amritsari Kulcha has topped the list, followed by Tandoori Chicken with a 4.4 rating, Tikka with a 4.4 rating, Saag Paneer with a 4.4 rating, Shahi Paneer with a 4.4 rating, Palak Paneer with a 4.2 rating, Dal Makhani with a 4.1 rating, and the list goes on.
Further, Taste Atlas also includes a list of restaurants that serve these dishes the best. The restaurants are Kesar da Dhaba in Amritsar, Haveli in Jalandhar, Pehelwan Kulcha in Amritsar, Bade Bhai ka Brothers Dhaba in Amritsar, and more.

Other Indian Regions On The List
On the list of the world’s best food regions, India has bagged a number of positions. Maharashtra bagged the 41st spot. Maharashtra is known for its street food, which is rated the best in the region. The dishes include Misal Pav, Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, Bombay Sandwich, Basundi, Shrikhand, and so much more.
Further, West Bengal was ranked at 54. As beautiful as the state is, even more delicious is its food, especially sweet dishes. The best-ranked dishes of the region are Rasgulla, Ras Malai, Mishti Doi, Sandesh, Chingri Malai Curry, Shorshe Illish, and more.
Last but certainly not least is Southern India, which comes in at number 59. Widely known for its architecture and temples, Southern India has a lot to offer in terms of food, which is widely loved by people all over India. Some iconic South Indian dishes are ranked the best, like Masala Dosa, Hyderabadi Biryani, Sambar, Idli, Mysore Pak, Chicken 65, Madra Curry, Pulihore, and the list goes on.
