The entertaining Quoz Arts Fest returns to the alleys of Alserkal Avenue to celebrate community, culture, and art.
Titled ‘CTRL+ALT+ACTION’, this year’s edition of the Qouz Arts Fest at Alserkal Avenue centers on the theme of sustainability. The two-day event is free and open to the families, friends & even pets! There will be plenty parent and kid-friendly activities including performances, workshops, tours, film screenings, food trucks, and live music during this dynamic culture carnival.What Is It?
The festival investigates how small changes in our lifestyles can impact large-scale economic, environmental and social improvements. For those interested in hands-on fun, ChariCycles and ‘Metal Art by Nikhil.es’ will both offer upcycling art workshops for children and adults.
There will be Lyrical contemporary dance workshop at Sima Performing Arts. At the same time, CHI-KA, a contemporary kimono and art space, will be hosting an interactive class on the power of composting. There will be a range of exhibitions, from a showcase of Emirati wildlife at Mirzam by the EMF/WWF to product manufacturing that can outlive generations at ikonhouse.
What Else?
Another sight to look out for is ‘Putting for Pleasure and Politics,’ a group exhibition curated by NYU Abu Dhabi professor David Darts displaying nine artist-designed mini-golf holes. There is also a Reel Palestine public film screening on 26 January that you don’t want to miss. During this period, The Junction will be hosting the Short+Sweet Theatre Festival, a six-week collection of 10-minute plays by local writers, actors and theatre groups. Check out the array of incredible talent grown from local soil.
