French President Emmanuel Macron will land in Jaipur on January 25. He is coming to India to be a part of the country’s 75th Republic Day celebration. Interestingly, he won’t be landing in Delhi directly. He will arrive in Jaipur today and explore some famous landmarks in the city where he will be accompanied by PM Modi. After a few hours of exploring, the two leaders will have a roadshow before they arrive in Delhi for the Republic Day parade on January 26.

As per the schedule shared by the officials, President Macron will arrive in the Pink City by 2:30 PM today. He will then set off to visit Amer Fort, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal. At Amer Fort, he will be welcomed with a cultural event and the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will accompany him there. They will be joined by PM Modi during their tour of Jantar Mantar. The two leaders will then have a road show – Shobha Yatra – from Jantar Mantar to Sanganeri Gate. They will have a stopover at Hawa Mahal to have Jaipur’s famous masala tea. They’re also expected to have a lavish dinner at the Rambagh Palace before departing for Delhi.

During their official bilateral talks in Jaipur, it is expected that the two leaders will talk about India’s proposed procurement of Rafale fighter jets and Scorpion submarines. They will depart for Delhi after the dinner in the Rambagh Palace. President Macron will then participate in the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path, Delhi. At the Republic Day parade, a French armed forces contingent will participate this year. They will flypast alongside Indian troops and aviators to strengthen defence ties between the two countries. After the celebrations, he will head to meet President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, before he departs from Delhi at 10:05 PM.

Last year in July, PM Modi attended Bastille Day in Paris as the chief guest. This time around, President Emmanuel Macron accepted the invitation to be the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebration. His visit will also mark the 25th-anniversary celebrations of the India-France Strategic Partnership.

Wow, that looks like two hectic yet fulfilling days! Hope the French President has a memorable time exploring the beautiful Pink City!
