A Potluck Of Gujarati Flavors And Heartfelt Stories

In this recent episode of “Sunday Brunch,” Kamiya Jani hosted a delightful potluck with R. Madhavan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Kirti Kulhari. The gathering featured a variety of homemade dishes, including Gujarati specialities like thepla with mango pickle (chunda), and kada prasad (a type of halwa). Neil shared a touching story about his Gujarati grandmother, who, despite her Brahmin upbringing that avoided garlic, non-vegetarian food, and potatoes, made significant sacrifices for her red-meat-eating husband, including maintaining a separate kitchen.

The group shares laughter and fond memories as Kirti Kulhari excitedly introduces the home-cooked saffron jeera rice and shahi chicken korma. The conversation also delved into personal financial habits, with Neil discussing his approach to savings and investments, emphasising the importance of planning for future generations, especially his six-year-old daughter. The episode highlighted the rich tapestry of cultural and culinary traditions, as well as the personal stories that shape their lives.

R. Madhavan, Neil Nitin Mukesh And Kirti Kulhari On Spending Habits And Savings

In this candid conversation with Kamiya Jani, Neil Nitin Mukesh shared insights into his financial habits and the influence of his upbringing on his approach to money management. Reflecting on his modest upbringing, he added, “Upbringing has been, of course, very modest, and I’ve seen a lot of struggles through the days, but my father has been a very intelligent man when it came to, you know…”

Neil’s father imparted valuable advice, telling him, “No matter whether you live in a one-bedroom house or a ten-bedroom house, in your home, you are the king.” This guidance encouraged Neil to live life king-size while being mindful of his financial boundaries and limitations.
