Rajasthan Rains: Heavy Rains Lash The State; Over 20 Dead, Flood-like Situation In Many Parts

Rajasthan is currently grappling with flood-like situations in many parts of the state as heavy rains continue to pelt the region. Visuals of floods in areas like Jaipur have surfaced on social media. If reports are to go by, as many as 22 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents so far in the state. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about Rajasthan rains.

Rajasthan Rains: Over 20 Dead, Flood-Like Situation In State

According to an article which was recently published by Business Today or BT, there have been 22 deaths across the state over the past two days. These deaths were caused by rain-related incidents. Many schools across the state were closed owing to the heavy rains.

Visuals of a number of regions inundated with water have emerged on X (formerly known as Twitter). As per the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected. Regions like Bharatpur, Jaipur, Kota and Ajmer are to be particularly affected.

In addition to these areas, a red alert has also been issued for Tonk, Kota, Bundi, Baran, and more. Both the National Disaster Response Force or the NDRF as well as the State Disaster Response Force or the SDRF have been deployed.

Rains To Ease By August 17; 150mm Rain Within 24 Hours

The NDRF and SDRF managed to evacuate more than 100 people from flooded regions. The daily lives of many people in the state have been adversely affected. Locals were urged to remain safe and to not leave their homes for non-essential travels.

Rajasthan became the wettest state in the country as it received a whopping 150 millimetres of rain in just 24 hours. This was in Mahua in Dausa. If reports are to go by, it seems that these rains will ease by Saturday, August 17, 2024.
