The world celebrates International Women’s Day every year on 8 March. The day is just around the corner this year and everyone is all set to celebrate the day in glory and grandeur. To celebrate this special day, Rajasthan has made an announcement recently. Girls and women of the state will get to travel on the state buses for absolutely free on International Women’s Day. State Government Is Letting Rajasthan Women Travel In State Roadways Buses For No Cost

This decision taken by the Rajasthan government is for all girls and women in the state. Girls and women travelling in all the ordinary buses and fast buses can get access to the vehicles for free. An official statement states that around 8.5 lakh girls and women will use the state roadways bus facilities and services on International Women’s Day on 8 March 2023. And for this, the government has made an estimation of a burden of about ₹7.50 crore, as reported by Outlook India.

Chief Minister Has Approved The Decision!

Ashok Gehlot is the Chief Minister of Rajasthan and he has provided approval of this proposal for this initiative for International Women’s Day. Not only this, but he has also given permission for the proposal of lower prices on ordinary Rajasthan Roadways buses for women. The decision is to reduce the fare to 50 per cent.

At the present moment, the concession on ordinary bus fares is 30 per cent and the new change of 50 per cent will come into action from 1 April. With the financial burden of free bus services on International Women’s Day, this new implementation will further add another financial burden on the Rajasthan government. As per several reports, the burden is about ₹3.50 crore.

The Chief Minister has already discussed the concession during the state budget for 2023-24. He shared how this is a commitment of the government to help and provide girls and women with affordable facilities such as public transportation services.
