Mame Khan is a Rajasthan-born Indian playback and folk singer. He was the first-ever folk performer to perform at the Indian pavilion and walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. This May, Mame Khan is going to perform live at the Zabeel Theatre; here’s all about it.

On May 19, the renowned Rajasthani folk singer Mame Khan will present his Bollywood production in the Sufi tradition at Zabeel Theatre on Palm Jumeirah’s Zabeel Saray. Mame Khan, a sixteenth-generation Manganiyar musician, represented India at Cannes last year. He is well-known for Rajasthani folk and Sufi music as well as Bollywood blockbusters like “Baawre” from the film “Lucky By Chance” (2008) and “Aave re Hitchki” from the film “Mirziya” (2016).

In a statement, he stated that he is incredibly happy to be able to present his act to the varied and multicultural audiences in the United Arab Emirates, where a sizable populace enjoys music. In addition to delighting his devoted followers, he wants to expose a whole new audience to Rajasthani traditional art. ‘Tambourine Live Events & Arts For All’ is organising the concert, which promises to be a dynamic blend of Bollywood and folk music. It includes a variety of traditional instruments and will last for two hours.

The Singer Gained Popularity After ‘Chaudhary’ Song

The singer, who has won numerous accolades, including Best Solo Album at the Jaipur Idol Music Awards in 2023, never fails to enthral audiences around the world with his live performances. Additionally, he has entertained the world’s music community with the best of folk fusion through performances in more than 60 nations.

Mame Khan recently inaugurated the world’s only Folk Orchestra at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. In 2009, he made his Bollywood singing debut in the movie Luck By Chance alongside Shankar Mahadevan. The singer gained popularity, nevertheless, when he made an appearance in a 2012 Coke Studio episode that featured the song Chaudhary, which was written by him and music director Amit Trivedi.

His single, Sanu Ik Pal Chain Na Ave, which blended Rajasthani and Punjabi folk music, was released in December 2016.
