Actor and director Rajat Kapoor, a man with a string of cinematic gems, joined our anchor, Tonakshi Kalra, on this episode of Tere Gully Mein. From Ankhon Dekhi to Scam 1992, Bheja Fry to Kapoor and Sons, he has charmed audiences with his reverberating persona both on and off the screen. So, when he dropped by for some street food exploration, we knew we were in for a joyride. The duo chatted about everything ranging from Rajat’s nostalgic childhood, his love affair with Bedmi Aloo, and some priceless anecdotes. In an honest conversation with Tonakshi, Rajat Kapoor revealed that two of his biggest hits did not win National Awards. Rajat Kapoor Is Grateful To Fans For Their Love Over National Awards
A man with a big heart and also a big love for Bedmi Aloo and Kachoris, Rajat Kapoor left no page unturned in making Tonakshi and us giggle with his witty charisma and punchy one-liners. After a pit-stop at the 149-year-old famous Parawthe Wali Shop, the foodie duo embarked on a serene walk to burn some carbs!
During a candid conversation, Tonakshi quizzed him on his sone pe suhaga moment in life. Rajat Kapoor exclaimed that getting a National Award for any of his films is his golden moment. Though the actor was of the view that a National Award is a powerful validation, he also adds, “My films Ankhon Dekhi and Mithya did not receive a National Award, but I have got so much love for it. Like I said, these awards are a bonus, but my films are already gold.” And we couldn’t agree more!
Clearly, Rajat Kapoor has a soft spot for his fans! He experienced a sone pe suhaga without a National Award when his superfan Darpan Sonar approached the actor for a photo. “Look here is my sone pe suhaga moment.” exclaims the actor.

The Delhi da munda and Delhi di kudi could not stop gushing about their birth city and their penchant of tasting every street food in Chandni Chowk. Tonakshi couldn’t resist asking Rajat about his favourite spots to hog in Delhi, because let’s be real, who wouldn’t want food tips from a self-confessed foodie like him?
Rajat was quick to respond saying, “We go to Big Chill which is my new adda, I also visit Perch in Khan Market. In childhood, going to Wenger’s and Paranthe Wali Galli, was a ritual.” Now, you know where to spot the actor in Chandni Chowk!
