Rajesh Tailang’s First Role Was In A Daily Soap
After a dose of chole bhature and golgappe, it was time to indulge in some authentic South Indian cuisine at Saravana Bhawan. Actor Rajesh Talan revealed that his go-to order at this popular restaurant is onion uttapam. While we waited for our order to arrive, we were eager to learn about Rajesh’s journey to becoming an actor.
Did you know that Rajesh started acting in theatres when he was just a teenager? He revealed that he used to participate in NSD’s workshops for kids and took part in several of them. When he discovered that there was a full-fledged three-year program that graduates could apply to, he decided to pursue it. He shared that after graduating, he was admitted to the full-time program at NSD on his first attempt. No surprise there!
During his time at NSD, he realised that acting was his true passion and felt capable enough to try his luck in Bollywood. Fortunately, he landed his first gig while still living in Delhi. He met the director of India’s first daily soap, Shanti, at NSD, who asked him to audition for a role. However, his journey wasn’t as straightforward as he hoped.
In 2013, he played the role of a father whose 12-year-old son goes missing in the movie Siddharth. Even though the movie didn’t reach a wide audience, it opened many doors for him, as it was submitted to several film festivals and brought him recognition within the film fraternity, and filmmakers finally took notice of Rajesh’s skills. Then came his major hits, including Delhi Crime, Mirzapur, Selection Day, and more.
