Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani sat down with our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, for Sunday Brunch. The duo introduced Kamiya to their Sindhi and Punjabi food combination. This health-conscious couple even maintains a kitchen garden on their terrace, where they grow their own fresh vegetables. Rakul shared the healthiest recipe of Methi Matar Malai, which is the duo’s go-to vegetarian dish on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Rakul Preet Singh’s Healthy Recipe Of Methi Matar Malai
As Kamiya was enjoying the authentic Sindhi food at the duo’s place, Rakul asked her opinion on Methi Matar Malai. Rakul Preet Singh has a habit of creating healthier versions of every dish. Whether it’s Gajar Ka Halwa or Butter Chicken, she always adds her own healthy twist. Rakul Preet Singh made “No Butter, Butter Chicken” and a version of “Methi Matar Malai” made without malai. She explained that the dish doesn’t contain any malai, and Kamiya was amazed to learn that. She added that the creaminess of the gravy comes from low-fat paneer, which is rich in protein, making the dish a healthier option.
Rakul went on to share the recipe:
-
First, prepare your mixture of onion, garlic, and ginger, and then grind the paneer with it. That’s the base for the curry.
-
Then, cook the methi and matar, and finally combine everything.
- Cook it until it all blends together, and your high-protein Methi Matar Malai is ready.
This protein-infused Methi Matar Malai is usually made on Thursdays and Saturdays, the days when Jackky follows a vegetarian diet. It serves as a delicious and nutritious protein source for the couple.

Rakul Never Fails To Look After Jackky’s Diet
While speaking to Kamiya, Jackky Bhagnani expressed deep respect for Rakul, calling her an independent woman who started from scratch, just like his father. Jackky added, “Rakul could be shooting in Dehradun, Patiala, Timbuktu, or anywhere in the world, my food still reaches me on time, and she coordinates it from wherever she is.” Hearing this, Kamiya was impressed by how sweet and expressive Jackky is when it comes to his feelings. To that, Rakul replied, “Tabhi toh rakha hai!”, a comment that had everyone bursting into laughter.
