The Ministry of Education has announced reduced working hours for private sector employees during Ramadan. Starting 26 April, private sector employees will enjoy two-hours reduction on their work day.

The new working hours will remain in place throughout Ramadan, which is likely to last 29 or 30 days. Ramadan in the UAE began on 24 April. Meanwhile, Eid Al Fitr is likely to fall on Saturday May 23 or Sunday May 24.
Earlier, UAE’s Federal Authority announced the working hours for public sector employees during Ramadan. Residents will start work from nine in the morning until two in the afternoon. The Ministry also urged to take into account those whose nature of work requires otherwise.

Meanwhile,in line with the festivities, Dubai Economy rolled out a clarification on food outlets last evening. A huge list of commercial activities in Dubai will now remain open from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm. This includes:
-Meat trading
-Fruits and vegetables trading
-Mills
-Fish trading
-Coffee Trading
-Tea trading

In addition, DED also announced that chocolates, sweets and nuts shops in malls will also operate as per the above mentioned timings. However, all shops and trading centres must adhere to strict sanitization policies and follow social distancing. Regular checks and inspections will be conducted by the authorities to ensure the same.
