The stunning Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan has been thrown open to the public from February 6th to March 10th.
The president’s abode is all decked up as it’s that time of the year when you get a chance to witness the stunning varieties of roses and bougainvillea flowers on a bright sunny morning. The famous Mughal Gardens will be open to the public from February to March. It’s when the flowers are in full bloom across the seven different gardens at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The 2019 edition of Udyanotsav, or the Festival of Gardens, will take place from 6 February to 10 March.What Is It?
What’s In It?
Designed by Sir Edward Lutyens, the Mughal Gardens sprawl across 15 acres and are the soul of the Presidential palace, it draws inspiration from the Mughal gardens in Jammu and Kashmir and the gardens around the Taj Mahal. This is the time when the flowers are in full bloom and portray a beautiful sight to behold which are a part of the annual event, Udyanutsav.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan will be brimming with tulips, Asiatic lilies, daffodils, hyacinth and other seasonal flowers. There are 70 types of seasonal flowers, 100 types of bougainvillea, 50 varieties of trees and more. The president employs 300 permanent and temporary employees just to maintain and develop the gardens.
