Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, had a gala time with the stunning ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ actor, Raveena Tandon, on this episode of Sunday Brunch. They met at the fabulous Earth Cafe in BKC to catch up on her adventures as the Wildlife Goodwill Ambassador of Maharashtra. While chatting, we asked her about the first paycheck and job; check it out.
Raveena Tandon’s First Job And Paycheck
Kamiya was curious to learn about the ‘Patna Shukla’ actor’s first job and paycheck and asked the same. Raveena recalled her initial days of shooting for advertisements under Prahlad Kakkar, a famous ad film director. She revealed that Prahlad used to cast her in ads due to the unavailability of models at the end moment.
This is how she began her journey in front of the camera. She would happily do the ads but was never paid for them. However, she considers her first gig to be with Bisca, an instant cup noodles company. Bisca went out of business years ago but we hope all the millennials reading this will remember the chokehold his noodle had during their childhoods!
It was an ad shoot and she had to pose with the noodle cup for a couple of snapshots. Raveena shared that she was paid ₹500 for it. It was a great deal back in the day, especially if you were someone who wanted to step into the glitz and glam of Hindi cinema!

This Is What She Bought With It
Continuing on the same topic, the actor shared that she didn’t buy anything for herself from her first paycheck. Instead, she went and surprised her mother with a tape recorder radio. They both enjoyed listening to songs on it a lot.
On hearing this, Kamiya enquired whether radios were available under ₹500 back in the day. Raveena informed us that radios used to be cheaper back then and she got her hands on a great one for just ₹500.
Then the conversation shifted to how it was right after the Bisca ad that she was signing numerous film contracts and her debut in Bollywood happened soon after. She finally found her destiny and was ready to rock the box office. Check out the video linked above to learn all about it.
