“Restored My Faith In People,” Swiggy Customer Receives Apology From Delhi Restaurant Chef For Serving Oily Curry

Delhi Restaurant Chef

Food deliveries aren’t a luxury. They have become a necessity. And with this necessity comes times when the food or service isn’t satisfactory. From misplaced orders, dishes that don’t taste up to the mark, customers have complaints. But how a restaurant or food delivery aggregator handles the complaints can make or break the situation. A moment of kindness can turn the situation around for the better. And that’s exactly how a Delhi restaurant chef won a disgruntled customer’s heart.

Delhi Restaurant Chef Apologises To Swiggy Customer

Taking to the sub-Reddit, r/Delhi, a Redditor, @AnybodyElectronic797, narrated an incident where they ordered a Chicken Curry from a new outlet in Vasant Kunj via Swiggy. The customer was hungry and excited, but unfortunately received a box which they claimed to be half-filled with oil and looked “super unhealthy”.

Swiggy told me to email. But, a simple call to the restaurant restored my faith in People.

Despite speaking to the customer care at Swiggy, the Redditor revealed they refused to help. Instead, the food delivery aggregator suggested the customer write an email to claim compensation. Disappointed, the customer vowed never to order from that Delhi restaurant again. But then, the Redditor decided to call the restaurant directly and convey the problem.

Promises To Serve Fresh Bath; Netizens Impressed

First, the customer spoke to the manager about receiving a chicken curry half-filled with oil. The manager listened and transferred the call to the chef. Five minutes later, the chef himself called and genuinely apologised for the issue. Taking accountability for his actions, the chef admitted that something may have gone wrong. Moreover, the chef promised to send a fresh dish the next day, assuring the customer that it would be up to the mark.

Ending the Reddit post, the customer introspected that AI bots may have taken over the help section, as they did with food delivery aggregators. But the customer reflects that it’s what our grandparents taught us that still holds true. The simple act of speaking respectfully and truthfully can make a difference.

Redditors hailed the restaurant’s team for taking the initiative to apologise and make amends. While some asked the Redditor to give a shoutout to the place, they refrained as they didn’t wish to encourage freeloaders.
