It seems that lately, fake bomb threats have become extremely common. According to an article which was recently published by Siasat, the airport received bomb threats for a total of three flights on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Two of them were supposed to depart for Chennai and the other one had arrived from there.

Upon receiving the bomb threat the Central Industry Security Force or the CISF activated its anti-sabotage teams. These teams thoroughly searched the aircraft. Despite a deep search, however, no explosives were found on any aircraft.

It was therefore concluded that the bomb threat was a hoax. Prior to this, the Hyderabad airport also received as many as six threats on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. These incidents have caused significant delays in the operations of the airport.

If reports are to go by, these threats are part of a worrying trend that has been witnessed in this country over the last few weeks. While the fake threats may not endanger the lives of people, it is nevertheless an inconvenience to deal with.

Airports depend on meticulously planned schedules and such threats can greatly affect these schedules. A security search after such a threat can take up to two hours. This can negatively impact all the stakeholders involved in the flight.

It is hoped that these threats will cease in the coming future or at least the person doing them will be caught soon.
