The wildfires on Rhodes are just a few of the hundreds that have erupted in Greece over the past week as heat waves sweep the nation. While some regions have matched or broken temperature records, others are dealing with catastrophic storms, other countries in Southern Europe have also struggled with the hot weather.
The Acropolis and other historic monuments were shut down by the government on Sunday because of temperatures.
The report also said that the Greek transport ministry said TUI and Jet2, which take care of the tourism to Rhodes, planned 14 scheduled flights from Rhodes airport. They have transferred about 2,700 passengers until 3:00 am local time.
