Art has no boundaries and can be showcased in every form. From painting to dancing to cooking, creativity’s representation has no limits. A YouTuber cooked soft idli and gave them a significant transformation using bright natural colours. The Kathakali dancer-themed idli looks breathtaking and the idea of revamping a white idli canvas into a vibrant creation is exceptional and deserves heaps of praise.

YouTuber Made Colourful Kathakali-Themed Idli For Onam

Taking to Instagram, Rohini Deepthi Natti (@rohinis.kitki) shared this incredible reel of beautifying plain idli into an impressive representation.

To decorate the Kathakali-themed idli, she poured the batter into an idli mould, added various colours, veggies, and seeds to the idlis, and cooked them perfectly. Next, she cut them into desired shapes and placed them neatly for the final look. Adding such intricate details needs a lot of focus and dedication. Her creativity is perfectly precise leaving us surprised with the innovative outcome.

The best part is that Rohini did not use any artificial colour in this process. To add vibrance and colours to Kathakali idli, she used natural ingredients. For the pink colour, beetroot puree was added. She used coriander puree for the green colour. Turmeric powder and unsweetened cocoa powder were added to the idli batter to get yellow and brown colours respectively.

In addition to colours, the entire artwork needed the inclusion of other ingredients for the final look resembling a Kathakali dancer. To recreate the eyes, she dipped sunflower seeds in the idli batter. For eyeballs, she placed mustard seeds in between the eyes. In addition, she layered a sunflower seed in the green batter to make the nose.

Rohini used cake fondant cutters to add the desired shapes for carrot and radish. She also carved different shapes using a knife. To add lips to the Kathakali idli, she cut a small piece of radish in the shape of lips and dipped it in the pink batter. Also, to add more real-like details, the YouTuber used mustard seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, and kalonji.

While we enjoyed watching the reel over and over again, we can only imagine the immense focus behind placing each ingredient in the accurate place at one go. Seeds are too tiny to hold and placing them using tweezers is a spectacular display of intense passion and sharpness to create the Kathakali-themed idli.
