Comedian Cyrus Broacha recently had restaurateur Riyaaz Amlani on his podcast ‘Cyrus Says.’ During their talk about food in the country, Riyaaz mentioned about the food in Ahmedabad. He started by talking about the unbelievable yet amazing food fusions in the city like Schezwan Dosa and Guacamole Idli. To this, Cyrus replied that all the dishes there are usually vegetarian and he is a non-vegetarian.
To this, Riyaaz Amlani said that there are eateries in the city that whip up ‘Jain Chicken Pizza!’ He particularly talked about a place in Ahmedabad’s Navrangpura that serves Jain chicken pizza and it has no onions and garlic in it. When questioned how there can be a ‘Jain chicken’ dish, Riyaaz said that people there want to “eat chicken but they don’t want to get busted!” This way, people can go home with a “fresh breath and clear conscience.”
Riyaaz said that the place was always packed with people and he even talked to the restaurant owner there. The people there explained this concept of chicken with no onion and garlic to him and he was just as amazed as we are!
