On Monday, Rockefeller Center selected and unveiled its Christmas tree for the 2024 festive season. They took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that this year’s tree will come from Massachusetts, the first one to hail from the state since 1959!
The tree will be cut down on November 7 and will arrive in New York’s Center Plaza on November 9, after covering a distance of almost 225 kilometres.

According to Rockefeller Center’s official website, the selected tree is a Norway Spruce from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It is almost 70 years old, weighs 11 tons, and is about 74 feet tall. Once it arrives, the Christmas tree will be decked with 50,000 multi-coloured LED lights. It will be topped with a 408.23 kg Swarovski star that features 70 spikes and is covered in three million crystals!

The annual Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony will, reportedly, take place on December 4 during the live broadcast. The tree will be put on display until mid-January 2025. Post that, the tree will be milled into lumber for Habitat for Humanity, as per a Time Out report.
