Samruddhi Mahamarg: 25-Km Stretch Between Bharvir & Igatpuri Town To Open By February; Here’s All About It

Infrastructural development in any city is the key to its growth. Especially if it’s in the form of connectivity of roads and highways. Keeping up with this spirit, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation has decided to open a 25-kilometre stretch on the Samruddhi Mahamarg between Bharvir and Igatpuri Town for traffic by February. In a statement, the MSRDC announced that major work on this stretch is almost complete and the remaining will conclude by February.

The third section, a 25-kilometre-long stretch between Bharvir to Igatpuri Town, of Samruddhi Mahamarg will be open for people by February. This part of the expressway is considered the most complex stretch on the Samruddhi Mahamarg. It is a well-combined combination of a flyover, a vehicular over bridge (VOB), a crossing of the old Mumbai Nashik Highway, and twin tunnels of 300 metres each.

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) confirmed this news. They said since a major portion of the work is complete on this e-way. The authorities mentioned that “the VOB construction was challenging,” as the six-lane road below it sees constant traffic.

Also known as Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, this e-way is 701 kilometres long and links Nagpur to Mumbai. The 600-kilometre section from Nagpur to Bharvir, in Igatpuri is already open to traffic. It was inaugurated in two phases by PM Narendra Modi and Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde in December 2022 and May 2023, respectively.

Only the Thane district work remains to be completed on the expressway. The MSRDC said that they are set to open that section by July as well. It will be a 76-kilometre stretch that will connect Thane to Amane.

This massive expressway has been making travel easier and faster for the public. We hope they’re able to meet all their deadlines on time!
