Media Often Asks Sania Mirza About Time Spent With Her Child On Tours

We are living in the 21st century and still, there is so much discrimination between genders even in 2022. On this Sunday Brunch episode, Sania talks about how the media has different sets of questions for her and her husband Shoaib Malik when it comes to their personal lives. On being asked about the banter about women’s sports and if it is the same for men, Sania responded very candidly. ‘It’s definitely not the same for men. She Talked About How Patriarchy Exists

Sania and Shoaib’s son Izhaan stays with Sania during most of her tours and most of the time in general. But there can be an odd week when he cannot be with his mum for so many reasons. In such instances, Sania is often asked, ‘So who’s taking care of your son?’.

Sania also shared, ‘Patriarchy is present and it needs to be acknowledged because it’s women like you and me when we are going to get up and say this still exists even with successful people like us. We have to say this is not okay. The same questions need to be asked to a man and the same question needs to be asked to a woman. If you’re asking me where my child is when I’m sitting at a press conference after winning a tennis match, then do the same to my husband and vice versa. And if you are not asking him, then don’t ask me.’
