Saudi Arabia Gets Women Police Officers In Madinah And Makkah For The First Time

In today’s day and age, women are getting empowered with time. Be it becoming Prime Minister or flying an aircraft, women, with their skills and hard work, are paving their way to the top. While women in the UAE are achieving new heights daily, women in Saudi Arabia are also achieving new heights. Saudi Arabia now has women security officers that are stationed in the holy cities of Saudi- Madinah and Makkah.

113 Military Trained Women Officials Are Now Stationed In Madinah And Makkah

For the first time in Saudi Arabia’s history, women are chosen to serve in security and armed forces roles in the holy mosques. This reform is breaking the internet, as Saudi is slowly allowing women to work and have their voice. In terms of the security officers, 113 military-trained officers are working around the clock in 18-woman shifts. These courageous women have learnt self-defence, arms training, first aid and English. They are a part of the homeland security branch of Saudi Arabia’s Special Security Forces. The branch was created six months ago.

Speaking about this reform, Umm Al Suwad, a Saudi resident, told a leading daily,

“This is an emotional moment for me. I have spent 57 years of my life in the kingdom and to see a woman in a police uniform at such a high level and in a place like Makkah, I was overwhelmed and in tears. We have come so far. This is a significant achievement and a step towards all that we will change and accomplish with Vision 2030.”

Women Empowerement Is A Key Part Of Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision

Saudis and ex-pats, who are quite impressed with this reform, took to social media and shared various pictures and videos of the female officers dressed in brown uniforms.

Women empowerment is now needed more than ever. And it is also one of the key objectives of Saudi’s Vision 2030 project. Saudi women with time, are conquering the world with their zeal and excellence. And this change is part of a long-term plan to create equal opportunities for women and to reduce the gender gap in the workplace.

We hope that women across the globe get equal opportunities to showcase their skills and talent.
