Outerspace is full of mysteries and there is continuous research that’s going on to get a better understanding of the same. As a result, many countries are sending space missions to know more about this subject. And now, Saudi Arabia is also preparing to make history. As it happens, Rayyanah Barnawi, the first Saudi female astronaut is all set to embark on a space mission, this May.

Rayyanah Barnawi To Take Off For The ISS This May

For those who aren’t aware, Rayyanah Barnawi is the first female astronaut from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and she is getting ready to be blasted off to space. Ali Al Qarni, a male astronaut from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will also be joining her for this mission headed towards the International Space Station on Tuesday, May 9. The scheduled takeoff is set to happen from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA. Not to mention, this will be a major milestone as she is the first female astronaut from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The launch is scheduled for 5:43 AM, Saudi time, and they will be joined by former NASA astronaut, Peggy Whitson and US pilot, John Shoffner on this mission.

This Mission Will Be A Historic One!

The crew is scheduled to take the Saudi scientific research a step further in terms of space technology, health, and sustainability. As it happens, the AX-2 space mission will be launching from the USA and will also include the training of two other astronauts in the Saudi Human Space Lift Programme. For those who aren’t aware, this program has been launched by the Saudi space commission. In case you are not aware, the International Space Centre is a large spacecraft that orbits the Earth, and it also features a science laboratory where astronauts conduct several experiments.
