There’s a breaking news that’s been doing the rounds in Saudi Arabia, and we are hooked. A slight hint has been dropped that Universal Studios theme park could be landing in Saudi Arabia. If it happens to be true, it will be one of the biggest entertainment moves the Kingdom has made so far after the rollercoaster hype at Six Flags Qiddiya.
Universal Studios Theme Park May Be Coming To Saudi Arabia, And That’s Huge
According to an exclusive report by The Wall Street Journal, early planning is already underway. The park is reportedly still in the concept phase, but if the intent is strong and becomes a reality, it will be one mega project to arrive in the kingdom. Sources unveil that the probable development could be backed by a Saudi government-linked entity under a licensing deal with Universal.
Universal Studios is owned by NBCUniversal, which falls under the gigantic umbrella of Comcast.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts visited Saudi Arabia last month for an investment conference. While there, he also toured Qiddiya, the mega-project outside Riyadh. Qiddiya flag city has been taking shape as the entertainment capital, and there’s a chance that Universal might drop in on the venue, as mentioned in a report by WSJ.
Why Universal Is A Suitable Choice For Saudi Arabia’s Entertainment Scene
Universal has recognised parks in Orlando, Los Angeles, Singapore, Beijing, and Osaka, which are built around blockbuster franchises. Based on themes like Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Minions, Transformers, and Shrek, these parks are instantly recognised by visitors. They combine headline rides with immersive lands and big live shows. Families, thrill-seekers, and film buffs have something to look forward to.
Saudi Arabia is already attracting international tourists with projects like the Red Sea and AMAALA. The addition of a Universal theme park brand would elevate the overall appeal of the kingdom, especially for families and regional visitors. Also, Universal is expanding aggressively across Texas, while a full-scale destination is planned for the UK. If the Saudi Arabia news turns out to be true, it will put the kingdom in the same league as the world’s top entertainment markets.

What We Are Yet To Know
Universal hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet. So, for now, it’s a firm fact that we need to wait for more deets for any type of confirmation. Still, if this moves forward, it won’t just be another theme park but the arrival of a global entertainment hub that is globally competitive. And yes, we’ll be watching the updates very closely.
