It is worth mentioning that these registrations have been made in accordance with the regulations, which relate to Antiquities, Museums, and Urban Heritage Law. Not to mention, it also aligns with the decision of the Heritage Commission’s Board of Directors. This commission has, however, already emphasised that this step is a part of its plan to expand the scope of legal protection for such sites. The development comes after there was an earlier registration of 3,202 new sites by the Heritage Commission, as previously revealed by the SPA. In fact, citizens and residents have been urged to report heritage sites that may not yet be registered through the Balagh platform.

As such, recognition of these heritage sites enables rehabilitation in such a way that it enhances the national identity. In the same breath, this will also help to highlight the cultural and historical value, making it a living testament to the architectural heritage of Saudi Arabia. Isn’t this a great development?
