Hold onto your stadium seats because Riyadh is about to score big with the unveiling of the King Salman Stadium. This isn’t just any sports arena; it’s set to be one of the world’s largest, and it’s making waves before the first brick is even laid. The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) and the Ministry of Sport have dropped a design so ambitious it might just make other stadiums green with envy.

King Salman Stadium In Riyadh To Feature 92,000 Capacity

Nestled in northern Riyadh, the King Salman Stadium will serve as the new home for the Saudi national team and the epicentre for major sporting spectacles. Positioned strategically along King Salman Road and right next to King Abdulaziz Park, it’ll be conveniently close to Riyadh’s key landmarks—King Khalid International Airport, the Riyadh Metro Station, and all the major roads you’ll need to navigate.

Scheduled for a grand opening in the fourth quarter of 2029, the stadium’s design is nothing short of a marvel. Selected from proposals by six international firms, the architecture draws inspiration from Riyadh’s rugged mountains and seamlessly blends with King Abdulaziz Park’s lush green spaces. Picture green walls and ceilings stretching over 96,500 square metres, proving that eco-friendly design can also be jaw-droppingly impressive.

Where Luxury Meets Sports

Covering an area of over 660,000 square metres, the stadium complex promises more than just a place to watch games. With a seating capacity of 92,000, it boasts a 150-seat royal suite, 120 hospitality suites, 300 VIP seats, and 2,200 dignitary seats. Surrounding the main event will be two training fields, fan zones, a closed sports hall, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and courts for volleyball, basketball, and padel tennis.

And let’s not forget the 9-kilometre sports track weaving around King Abdulaziz Park, making it easier than ever to jog off those stadium snacks. The design aims to not only elevate Riyadh’s status as a premier sports hub but also enhance the city’s livability and global appeal.
