Sehri, Iftar Offered To Muslims At Katra

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board had converted the Aashirwad Bhawan in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir into a quarantine centre for around 500 Muslims in March. During the Ramadan month, the temple authorities had been providing them with sehri and iftar every day. Sehri is the small meal that the Muslims take in the holy month of Ramadan before sunrise. Once the day-long fast ends after sunset, they have the second meal of the day, which is known as iftar.

Temple Authorities Offered Sehri And Iftar To Quarantined Muslims

The shrine board at Vaishno Devi has spent about ₹80 lakhs to feed the people quarantined in different centres across Katra. As per sources, most of the people quarantined in Aashirwad Bhawan are migrant labourers working in different parts of the country. DD News Jammu had shared a video of the good deed of the temple staffs on Twitter, which soon earned praises from the netizens. One user commented, “Real example of communal harmony in India”. Another said, ” Good cause. Let humanity prevail throughout the world”.

A couple of days before Eid-ul-Fitr, about 20 members of the Sikh community, working as part of the NGO United Sikhs, sanitized the premises of Delhi’s Jama Masjid. Several teams of the organisation have already sanitized shrines like Gurudwara Sis Ganj, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place, Delhi and some church premises as well. Also, a group of young Muslims. known as the Rajpora Volunteer Development Committee (RVDC) have been sanitizing places of worship in Kashmir’s Pulwama district, including a Gurudwara in Shadimarg area.
