Senior Railway Officials Will Inspect Stinking Toilets In Trains

Indian Railways have been infamous for its hygiene standards, especially the toilets – stinking & overflowing half the time. Toilets in trains are a nightmare if they aren’t cleaned or maintained. In long-distance travel especially, unclean toilets in trains can irk passengers to the fullest. Imagine the horror of having only four washrooms available for immediate use while travelling with 50+ passengers. Toilets in trains and their conditions have reportedly been brought to official authorities’ attention. This time, the Indian Railways have finally deployed its senior officials to inspect the toilets in trains and find the ‘root cause’ of this problem.

Senior Railway Officials To Travel To Inspect Toilets In Trains

The first phase of the toilet inspection is underway, with over 544 toilets in trains inspected by junior officials initially and signed by the senior official later. In the second phase of the inspection, senior officials will be travelling with the passengers in 3AC coaches for 24 hours in order to experience and inspect the problems faced by the travellers. Toilets in trains have been a matter of concern for the longest time – now with social media filled with concerns like overflowing or lack of water facilities. In one such complaint, a passenger had excreta all over him after he flushed the bio-toilet installed in the trains. This report initiated several meetings, where the situation was reviewed.
