Indian cricket commentator and journalist Harsha Bhogle took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam IndiGo for changing an elderly couple’s seats for no reason. His post urged the airline to be sensitive and accommodating of the demands of the elderly. Read on to know why the cricket commentator was enraged by the airline and its crew.

Harsha Bhogle Disappointed With IndiGo Crew’s Treatment Of Elderly Couple

On August 24, Harsha Bhogle put out a long post on X after witnessing an elderly couple’s travel ordeal on his IndiGo flight. In his post, he mentioned that this incident was a prime example of #IndigoFirstPassengerLast. Narrating the incident, Bhogle mentioned that the airline switched an elderly couple’s seats to the 19th row without any explanation. The elderly couple had earlier booked their paid seats in row 4 to avoid the long walk down the aisle.

Without giving them any reason, the airline switched the seats of the couple to row 19. The cricket commentator mentioned that the octogenarian gentleman would have struggled to walk down the narrow passage to reach his new seat. “But who cares?” questioned Bhogle. A few passengers stood up for the couple and pointed out the immorality on the part of the crew.

Only after a few people made some noise about it, the cabin crew restored their original seats. But Bhogle was enraged that it took remonstration by fellow passengers for the IndiGo crew to restore the paid seats of the couple. He stated that IndiGo would have otherwise made the couple walk down to row 19, check after boarding was completed and then expect them to walk back to their assigned row 4.

Demands Airline To Be More Sensitive To Plight Of Passengers

He recollected the elderly lady meekly complaining that it was a common occurrence for them. She mentioned that it was stressful for people of her age to travel. She wished IndiGo didn’t have a monopoly. Harsha Bhogle demanded the airline sensitise its ground staff and put their passengers first occasionally. He found it disappointing to witness the airline crew “casually” moving their elderly passengers. As someone who was proud of a successful Indian enterprise, he demanded the airline be more sensitive to the plight of its passengers without institutionalising an uncaring attitude.

His post garnered 206k views and 163 comments. Many Netizens took to the comments section of the post to express their shock and displeasure at the airline’s treatment of its elderly passengers. They wondered how the airline could switch seats of passengers who had explicitly booked and paid for them beforehand.
