Recently, Sharjah Road and Transport Authority announced that it will begin the operations for the first phase of electric buses. Yes, these will be servicing the intercity lines and the aim is to support the emirate’s effort towards the Climate Neutrality 2050 initiative. Sharjah RTA Introduces Electric Buses
As reported by Khaleej Times, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has now announced the operation of Phase 1 of electric buses. Yes, 10 of the buses, will be moving to 3 intercity lines to serve the public. With the aim of promoting green public transportation and achieving environmental sustainability, these buses are being introduced.
In fact, according to the details revealed by the Government of Sharjah RTA, it has launched several destinations, which include between three cities, for the mass transportation service. Not to mention, this development followed after a contract had been signed for purchasing electric buses for the first stage after two of them were tested for their efficiency. The next stage will increase the number of electric buses that are operating in Sharjah. As it happens, these vehicles are air-conditioned. Yes, and they operate with a battery cooling system, which falls in line with the climate conditions in the country.

Abu Dhabi Recently Began Electric & Hydrogen-Powered Green Buses
As it happens, not too long ago Abu Dhabi also launched green buses, which included both electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles. Yes, launched on September 12, these buses would operate on Route 65, which would fall between Marina Mall and Shams Boutik on Al Reem Island. However, unlike fossil fuels, these buses do not emit harmful pollutants. In fact, hydrogen-powered ones only emit water vapour! So, the emirate of Abu Dhabi is expected to drop carbon dioxide emissions by over 100000 metric tonnes with this important transition.
