“Shawshank Redemption Moment,” Comedian Abijit Ganguly Shares His 7-Hr B’luru-Mumbai Flight Experience

Travelling by plane is generally thought to be quicker and hassle-free. However, it can be a real pain in the neck if the weather is bad or if the flight keeps running into one issue or the other. Recently, the popular standup comic, Abijit Ganguly, shared his experience on a flight from Bengaluru in Karnataka to Mumbai in Maharashtra. This journey is not supposed to be longer than two hours; however, the comic spent around seven hours on the plane. Here’s what happened.

Abijit Ganguly Shares His Flight Experience To Mumbai

According to the post recently shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Abijit’s flight was scheduled for 11:30 PM. It took off from the Kempegowda International Airport or KIA on time however, owing to thunderstorms, the flight could not land at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or CSMIA in Mumbai.

So instead of landing there, the flight headed towards the Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat. Unfortunately, though, it turned out that the airport in Ahmedabad was already at capacity and could not let any more flights land there. And so, the flight was again diverted to Indore.

They finally landed in Indore and the comedian said that he hoped to munch on some poha after getting off the plane. However, his hopes were thwarted again. The passengers weren’t allowed to deboard so they had to wait while the plane refueled. The plane then took off from the Indore airport at 5 AM and landed at 6 AM in Mumbai. At 7 AM, they were finally allowed to deboard the plane.

Many people sympathised with his struggle in the comments section and a few even cracked jokes about it. One commenter said that he basically got the tour of the entire country at the price of one ticket.

The comedian ended his post by saying that his experience felt like a Shawshank Redemption moment.
