Sheikh Hamdan Approves New Education Policy System With New Student Visas & More

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum recently chaired a meeting where important decisions regarding new policies were approved. This extended to the new student visa, Air Quality Strategy 2030 and more. Here is all you need to know about the new policies that have been approved by him during the meeting.

Sheikh Hamdan Approves Key Education Policy

For education, there is a plan for a new student visa and international scholarships, along with a plan for 90% of the students to secure suitable employment. With the aim of enhancing higher education, Dubai aims to improve career guidance and also make air quality better through the Air Quality Strategy 2030. So, it is envisioned that by 2033, Dubai will want to make the international students’ population 50% of the total university enrolment.

Increase The Number Of International Universities

This comes at a time when Dubai is home to 37 international university branches presently, and now the plan is to take the number higher by doubling it to 70. With the new academic and career guidance policy, 90% of the general student population will be able to find employment that align with their field. As it happens, the aim is also to attract international universities. Taking the number to more than 70 by 2033, Dubai is already home to renowned international names. These include the University of Manchester, Dubai, the University of Wollongong in Dubai, and the University of Birmingham, Dubai.

Air Quality Strategy 2030

Coming to the Air Quality Strategy 2030, the plan is to achieve clean air standards. This should be achieved on 90% of the days by 2030, thereby helping enhance public health and also taking a step towards environmental sustainability. Reducing p.m. 2.5 matter concentration to just 35 µg/m³, other key pollutants will also be addressed, such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide. The strategy is being planned to be implemented in partnership with other authorities, like Dubai Municipality, DEWA, and Dubai RTA, to name some.
