It’s no secret that there are some major development plans underway in Dubai to improve the existing infrastructure and make life even better for the residents in the city. With a vision for a greener future, it was recently announced that some areas in Dubai will soon become car-free zones. With the aim of transforming the neighbourhoods, they plan to prioritise pedestrians and cyclists. Here’s a list of some areas that will be car-free in some time.

Car-Free Zones To Come Up In Dubai

As approved recently by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence announced the Super Block Initiative. Taking to X, he mentioned that this initiative is in line with Dubai’s 2040 Urban Masterplan, which aims to enhance the infrastructure and promote a greener and more sustainable urban environment.

As revealed during the meeting, this project focuses on transforming designated urban areas into proper pedestrian zones. With the aim of enhancing the quality of life, fostering social interaction, and promoting sustainable mobility, it will be coming up in some neighbourhoods. These areas are Al Fahidi, Abu Hail, Al Karama, and Al Quoz Creative Zone. The list of names that were mentioned here will be the first to benefit from the initiative.

Sheikh Hamdan Approves Other Important Initiatives

In fact, during the meeting, he also proved the Unified Digital Platform initiative. It aims to integrate government digital services in Dubai under a single platform and aligns with the Services 360 Policy. This positions Dubai among the top three global cities for digital services by 2027. Not only this, the executive council also approved a new property classification initiative, which is called Strata Registration. It is designed to enhance homeownership opportunities for UAE citizens. Community Development Fund policy was also approved, which aligns with Dubai Social Agenda 33. The aim is to enhance community service, help fund social programmes and foster an inclusive society.

With so many important initiatives approved, it is a testament to the fact that the government is constantly working for the betterment of the people.
