Yes, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum who is the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, Crown Prince of Dubai, and the Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai has finally given the green light for construction. Sheikh Hamdan Gives Green Light For The 1st Aerial Taxi Vertiport
Dubai International Airport is the place where the first aerial taxi vertiport will be coming up in Dubai. As Sheikh Hamdan has finally given the green light for construction, this initiative is bound to make Dubai the world’s first city that will offer this innovative urban transport system. The vertiport will feature a modern design! This will complement the city’s landscape. Not to mention, it was also unveiled that passengers will get to experience unique, comfortable, and seamless mobility. As the vertiport will be spread across 3100 m², it will feature designated zones for both takeoff and landing.
The Vertiport Is Coming Up At Dubai International Airport
Featuring a contemporary design, there will also be a place for aircraft charging, a dedicated aerial taxi apron, and of course a parking area. With a capacity for 42,000 landings annually, it is expected to serve 1,70,000 riders every year. In fact, the contemporary design reflects Dubai’s iconic urban aesthetics, thereby offering users a seamless and comfortable travel experience. Air-conditioned facilities will be built according to the highest global safety standards.

It Will Feature A Contemporary Design
Not to mention, this will be done in collaboration with leading international operator, Joby Aviation who will be managing the aircraft manufacturing, passenger movement, and operations. While SkyPorts will be overlooking the design, operation, and construction of the vertiport infrastructure. Of course, the Dubai RTA will be overlooking the governance and integration with other transport modes.
For those who have been following the news of aerial taxis, know that once the service launches, the journey from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah will be faster. Yes, it will be reduced to just 12 minutes as compared to 45 minutes by car. So, with the green light from the Crown Prince, we can certainly expect that this word port will be standing tall quite soon in Dubai.
