On December 17, a major announcement was made that would change the future of the delivery system in Dubai. Yes, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the first-of-its-kind drone delivery system at Dubai Silicon Oasis. Launched by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, the Crown Prince of Dubai, and the Chairman of the Board of the Trustee of Dubai Future Foundation, this is a first-of-its-kind drone delivery system in the Middle East.
Sheikh Hamdan Launches Drone Delivery System
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum placed the first order by using the drone delivery system. This was done through a platform at the Rochester Institute of Technology-Dubai. As it happens, this is one of the landing points within the DSO drone delivery system. And of course, the order was successfully delivered after it took off from one of the points in the community. Aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, the strategy is to place a high priority on strengthening public-to-private partnerships as revealed by Sheikh Hamdan.

This Is A First-Of-Its-Kind System In The Middle East
It’s worth mentioning that the drone delivery system will cover 33% of Dubai by 2030. As a result, it’s bound to station Dubai as a pioneer in smart mobility. With this launch, the joint project between Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Future Foundation, and Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority has come to a conclusion. Not to mention, the project has also successfully created dedicated air routes for the delivery system so that it aligned with the existing airspace that is being used in the Dubai Silicon Oasis.
At this point, it’s worth mentioning that the drones have been designed to operate in a variety of city landscapes. Yes, it is attached with cutting-edge, flight control algorithms and multi-sensor fusion positioning technology that makes this possible. Not to mention, it also features low-noise propellers, a flight control system, and even a parachute all of which have been developed in-house.
